Who is Vinyl for a Cause, and why should you know who they are?

Vinyl for a Cause (short version VFAC) is a Chicago based record label founded by Adam Victorn and Charlie Greengoss. It’s also very charitable because they gather bands that are willing to cover each others’ music and release it on vinyl. They promote and sell these music projects and half of all proceeds go to charity!! Are you a vinyl head? Been itching to find others who listens to vinyl like you? Great news! Vinyl for a Cause can fulfill your musical needs and provide you with the niche you are looking for.

Adam and Charlie pondered with the idea that music should be a driver for charity when watching concert videos on Youtube. Especially after listening to Brand New’s cover of Trailer Trash by the band Modest Mouse is what sprung them into action. Jesse Lacey appeared at the beginning of the video explaining how it was an honor to play this song, and how he adores the music they make. This idea of getting 2 bands together that admires each other’s music and pressing a few songs to vinyl was a no brainer. They knew they had something here. Being huge music fans and supporters of the Chicago music scene lead them to consider the many ways that they could continue to connect with music and give back to the community at the same time.

Since their start, they have recorded with Jesse W. Johnson, Coed Pageant, Railway Gamblers, The Leadfoot Band, Indigosun, and The Heard. They hope to grow by connecting with like-minded bands and artists across the county. With vinyl increasing in popularity these past few years, they see the potential in the niche they are trying to market to.

Perks Of Working With Vinyl For A Case:

  • The bands & artists get to pick their charity of choice to donate to
  • They retain all rights to the music.
  • The bands & artists get to pick the songs they cover.

By letting the artist/bands pick the causes and cover songs, it a) gives them the opportunity to let people know what causes matter to them the most and b) introduce themselves to a bigger audience. As stated above, they plan continuing with their tradition of releasing projects in small quantities, and single pressing every single one. Their goal is to grow by connecting with like-minded bands across the United States. Even the cover art is on each unique project is original.

Vinyl for a cause is excited for 2017, and is very appreciative of the support they felt from the music community.
