Education is critical for children of all ages. Teachers are able to come in various shapes and sizes. Now, as a result of AI, teachers don’t even have to be human. Robots are entering the learning environment as a way of offering a unique teaching experience for children.

Learning is Fun

Many children struggle with learning different concepts because it’s just not fun. Whether they are learning one-on-one or in a group setting, children find the whole idea of learning difficult. They don’t want to feel as though they’re being force-fed information.

Robots are unique in that they are more like a toy. Especially in today’s day and age, children are used to playing with toys that talk and interact with them. As a result, introducing a robot into your child’s repertoire is not too much of a shock. They feel as if they are playing with a toy. With the artificial intelligence built into the robot, it’s a toy as well as an educational tool

Children will be able to interact with the robot and become friends with it. They’ll be learning in a fun way so that it’s less of a chore. They’ll learn all sorts of new concepts without feeling the pressure that often comes with traditional classroom learning.

Education is Adaptable

Children get frustrated with the learning process when they stop learning. This is especially true in a classroom setting where there are multiple students learning at different levels. One child may need to stay on a concept longer than what the teacher is willing to spend. Meanwhile, another child may get the concept quickly and be ready to move onto the next. As a result, both the slower and the faster child aren’t getting what they need.

Robots are built with artificial intelligence. This allows them to be capable of adaptive learning. It eliminates the need for one-size-fits-all educational systems. It is impossible for every child to learn on the same level, regardless of how the teacher is approaching the subject matter.

Robots are able to tailor educational material based on the student’s strengths. This ensures that the child is getting the information that they need in a way that they can understand it. The robot will know when to move onto the next subject or when to spend more time because of being able to assess the child routinely.

The robot will be able to learn from the child and grow up with the child through machine learning. As the robot learns, the lessons will be adapted based on what the child needs to learn next.

The lessons are interactive from the robot, ensuring students are interested in the materials. Creative and interactive lessons are personalized so that every child gets what he or she needs from the robot. This is something that teachers simply cannot do when they have multiple children in the classroom because of time restraints.

Emotions are Incorporated

Emotions are often left out of the classroom learning environment. Teachers have enough to worry about than if a child is happy, sad, or depressed. Students still have to complete the coursework.

Plenty of studies have shown that children who are sad or depressed don’t perform as well in school. New AI robotics are capable of understanding the semantics of a child. If a child is playing with the robot and is sad, the robot can identify this emotion and react to it appropriately. It, essentially, helps a child to learn how to deal with their emotions in order to move forward with the engaging learning that the robot is capable of providing.

Parents are Kept Up-to-Date

Robots are being used in more learning environments because of their ability to keep parents up-to-date, too. In classrooms, parents are updated on an as-needed basis. This is typically quarterly, leaving many parents wondering what their children are learning in between the updates. Further, standard “educational toys” aren’t capable of proving parental updates. This, again, leaves the parents wondering what their children really know in terms of various milestone concepts.

A robot with personalized learning AI will be able to provide automated progress reports to parents as well as teachers. By involving traditional teachers in the process, it ensures that they are aware of any new benchmarks the student has made. Parents will be able to provide additional support to their children as needed while also providing rewards when considerable strides have been made.

Over the past 20 years, technology has been regularly introduced to children of all ages. First, it was learning shows on television, allowing them to learn from favorite characters like Elmo and Mr. Rogers. From there, computers were provided, making it easier for kids to have fun with learning math and English. Tablets have made their way into the hands of preschoolers, allowing them to have fun with learning, too. Robots are simply the next step. Embedded with machine learning and artificial intelligence, they serve as both a toy and a teacher, ensuring that learning is not only fun but also adapted to the learning capabilities of the child.
