Of New Mexico, For New Mexico: Providing Actionable Insights to State Government
RS21 wins statewide contract to help the place we call home.
Posted By Charles Rath, RS21 President + CEO
When we opened our doors in Downtown Albuquerque, we made a commitment to contributing to the creative and technical capabilities of New Mexico. RS21 is part of a flourishing tech community and is supported by some of the brightest minds in data science and visualization, UX/UI design, software development, and policy.
RS21 “walks the talk” when it comes to being local. In fact, RS21 is the first New Mexico technology firm to officially adopt a “go-local” approach to sourcing business supplies from more than 60 New Mexico-based vendors. In the past two years alone, we have contributed over $13 million to the local economy, supporting the vitality of our community and the health and well-being of New Mexico families who rely on our business.
And now, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to make an even bigger impact.
IT Professional Services
We were founded as a company to help solve the most challenging issues facing us today. And in line with that mission, we’ve worked with Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, national laboratories, and non-profit organizations to deliver big data products and services. Now we’re bringing those capabilities home.
Through our IT Professional Services contract with the State of New Mexico, we can work with state agencies, local governments, and public educational entities to tackle our state’s biggest challenges.
RS21 is uniquely positioned to help state agencies harness the power of data. We have a deep understanding of New Mexico’s economies, demographics, and needs. It makes total sense for a company like ours to work with the State to blend our local and domain knowledge with advanced computational capabilities, data integration techniques, and visualization expertise.
What does that mean?
It means we know how to take all the data available to our state agencies, plus data from other relevant sources, to create a coherent data picture of a given situation. And we can make it usable by everyone — from a technical analyst to a director or decision-maker.
Our intuitive visualizations and interactive dashboards make it easy for people to understand how the data is layered and where and when specific situations occur. We take it a step further with predictive modeling so users can create different scenarios and quickly predict occurrences and outcomes.
That’s an extremely powerful capability.
Why? Because data is key to helping people answer their questions and solve problems.
When people have access to easy-to-understand, intuitive data analytics, they can focus on doing what they know best. They can simplify the data journey, work independently from data analysts, and access the insights they need to do their work and fulfill their organizational missions.
Where do we expect to see this technology used?
Everywhere.
Data for New Mexico
“Power comes not from knowledge kept, but from knowledge shared.”
— Bill Gates
Crime Prevention + Safety
While we are proud to call New Mexico home and raise our families here, crime is a big issue for our communities. We can create better software to help local and state law enforcement more quickly track, manage, and prioritize crime data, such as outstanding warrants.
Education
New Mexicans rank education as one of the top issues we need to address. Using all the data we have available in rigorous, innovative ways will help us better understand which policies are most effective to support our students, teachers, and administrators.
Public Health
Data scientists at RS21 are bringing together disparate data to support improved health outcomes for communities. We are pairing claims data with socioeconomics, nutrition, and other information to learn where services exist and where geographic gaps occur. Armed with more complete information, public agencies, healthcare providers, and health insurance companies can work together to improve health and wellness for New Mexicans.
Labor + Employment
Data analytics can help match New Mexicans with jobs and save the State money. Through data mining and machine learning techniques and a robust database, we can help the State more efficiently connect job seekers with positions that match their skills, enforce labor laws, and manage unemployment benefits.
Court Data
We can work with New Mexico’s court system to integrate data between the various agencies and community justice partners that work with the State’s judicial districts. The court system handles massive amounts of information. A database that can unify all the information, support queries through an intuitive web interface, and allow various access and permission controls can greatly enhance the collection and dissemination of information.
Let’s Make New Mexico a Leader in Data Analytics
Our state has a deep history of science and engineering, and we are fully on board to help New Mexico become a leader in using data analytics and digital technologies.
Let’s work together to improve our businesses, processes, and communities.
