Danielle Bregoli capitalized on her meme status, and went from being an unruly Florida teen to a celebrity with 12.3 million Instagram followers. In September 2016 Danielle Bregoli was invited onto the Dr. Phil show in hopes of changing her disobedient behaviour. After the episode aired, both a macro and a video meme of her went viral all around North America. Her meme went viral across all social media platforms including Instagram and Twitter. Now… how did she manage to create herself into a celebrity from this one viral meme?

Danielle Bregoli, or her manager’s marketing skills, helped her meteoric rise to success. After the meme went viral she immediately became more active on her social media accounts and utilized her new fame to her advantage. After her meme went viral she branded herself as “Bhad Bhabie” on all social media accounts and continued to ride on the fame train for as long as possible. Then when the meme was fading away from circulating widely on the internet, Danielle Bregoli and her manager began to step up creating her loyal fan base. They began a website that leads to merchandise purchasing options, they created a YouTube channel where she posts weekly videos and they began to record frequent live videos where Danielle Bregoli could interact more with her fans in comparison to just posting videos and photos often. With these new marketing skills she strengthened her fan base and grew even more followers.

Well, she has the ability to charge large amounts of money for appearances and brand deals today because the correct combination of timing and skill has turned her short-term viral fame into a complete celebrity narrative. Despite her meme being dead, she has created an entire brand for herself to thrive as a celebrity in our popular culture. She made herself famous from a meme so why not profit from it?

Who knows where she will be in a couple years, considering her success in less than one and a half years since her viral meme. She has the possibility to become one of the most popular celebrities in all of North America if her brand continues to strengthen.
