Jay’s meme status like many other people was started on Vine. Growing up jay had the typical teenage life, but that was soon to change when Vine launched. After watching a vine of RIFF RAFF giving his dog “Versace Water” Jay create the name Jay Versace and thus the soon to be Vine icon was created. After the development of his persona he then had to come up with what types of videos he would create. Having been the class town for his entire life Jay began to post humorous six second videos not knowing that this social platform was about to create a foundation for a highly successful career in the future. His meme status really developed because of the consistent flow of relatable hilarious content. Jay’s following on Vine eventually grew to be more than three million followers, but as Vine began to dwindle Jay used his following to launch a YouTube channel. His channel today now has more than half a million followers and is continuously growing.

At the beginning of Jays career being “Vine Famous” was not quite a thing yet. People were developing huge followings but nothing like the Magcon tour had been created yet. Once Vine really began to become a platform that launch careers Jay hopped on the train. He began posting original hilarious content on a daily basis. Personally, I believe his content and brand on Vine really blew up because his videos were not just stupid comedy, but comedy your average teenager could relate to. He pokes fun of being on a budget, parental situations, and just the daily teenage life. Obviously while growing this platform he was also able to grow other platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. Obviously after a while Jay realized vine would not be around forever and that his following was seeking something more than just seven seconds. With that in mind Jay launched a YouTube channel. As we all know now YouTube has the possibility to open so many doors and turn you in to a social media mogul. Which is exactly what it did for Jay. Turing the transition from being “Vine Famous” to a YouTube star its easy for people to lose sight of themselves for example Nash Grier or Cameron Dallas. But in Jays case that didn't happen which is why I believe his following to continued to grow and never really plateaued off.

Once social media became Jay’s full-time career he decided to make the move from Pleasantville, New Jersey to Los Angeles. This move to Los Angeles provided Jay with way more opportunities than he was receiving in New Jersey. This influenced the massive growth in his career from getting massive partnerships with brands like Barney’s New York to signing with the United Talent Agency. After a while of being in Los Angeles Jay’s decided to turn his love for entertaining people in to something more, so he dipped his foot into the acting world. From that moment on Jay has landed quite a few roles. For example he had his own show with Fullscreen titled “Jay Versace is Stuck in the 90’s”, he also stared in AwesomenessTV’s “The Commute”. With that Jay decided to take a plunge in the producing and directing by creating a show with Portal A titled “My Wizard & Me”. It’s clear that Jay is passionate about what he is doing and I find it inspirational that he a grew such a successful career from six second videos.
