Of all the Instagram accounts I follow, there is one personality who speaks to me the most on my timeline. @shabazztheog is an African American business man, life coach and brand ambassador that enjoy spending his time giving thoughtful advice and opinions to his followers. “Shabazz” is approximately 50 years old and has a child with a wife he once had many years ago. Raised in the ghetto of Philadelphia, he is extremely street smart and understands how to deal with any situation. Much of his content focuses on spreading uplifting messages to the black community across North America. Typically @shabazztheog speaks towards issues of racism and the everyday difficulties between males and females. Shabazz likes to post almost every day, speaking on the latest trending topics or giving motivational words while he cruises in his convertible sports car. Oh, did I mention he’s a part of Floyd Mayweather’s ‘Money Team’? Shabazz hangs with all the celebs including Meek Mill, Floyd Mayweather, Jay-Z and many more familiar faces. Shabazz runs his Instagram account quite well. He mixes in the perfect portion of posts, stories and live streams that keeps all of his 51.7k followers engaged. Although 50,000 followers may not seem like a lot compared to our streamline celebrities today, who cares? His content is so much better! Shabazz should have way more followers than he does, I think the young generation just doesn’t know about him yet. Shabazz is successful because he is relentlessly posting new content every day. His ability to spit knowledge to his audience on a steady, consistent basis is what makes me feel like never unfollowing him. I turn to Shabazz for his opinion on trending issues like; the latest Trump foolery, H&M “coolest monkey in the jungle” issue, and the recent Starbucks arrest that happened in Philly.

The best thing about Shabazz is he has “OG” status. He’s been around the block a hundred times, seen it all and never changed after getting rich. He calls it how he sees it and admits when he’s wrong. These are just some of the reasons why his followers look up to him and turn to him for advice. Shabazz plans Instagram Live discussions on a weekly basis that gives his followers the opportunity to interact with him. During these live discussions, Shabazz talks about relationships, racism, mental health or anything the followers want to hear his opinion of. He’s really knowledgeable and likes to help people solve problems right on the live stream. Shabazz also likes to post content of his life outside of helping his follower’s concerns. He posts these really funny and uplifting videos of him listening to his favourite throwback 70’s and 80’s songs that have powerful messages. He sings along with the song, pauses it, then explains to his followers the message the song is trying to send. I dig his style, he’s not ashamed of being himself on camera and likes to have fun with followers.

Oh, another thing about him.. He actually replies to his DM’s and follower’s comments! That’s unheard of for many social media personalities. I’ve shot him a few DM’s in the past and he actually replies and thanks me for the love and support. That kind of stuff is real hard to come by.

If you aren’t following @Shabazztheog, please do yourself a favour and hit that follow button. He knows how to run his Instagram the right way!
