You should’ve stuck with msn; those were easier times. You’re going to get your Facebook account at the age of 12 and then everything is going to change. From then, you’ll go through a couple phases including playing Sorority Life, Restaurant City, and a bunch of other addicting Facebook games. I must start off young Sarah by telling you that one day you’ll stop downloading music illegally and actually pay for it! Don’t worry, the futures got some good things in store, you’ll get over the switch from a Facebook wall to a Facebook timeline, there will be worst updates.

I’ve comprised some advice for this second life that you’ll be living with for the rest of your life below:

In 2012 a great philosopher by the name of Tyler the Creator, also know on Twitter as @feliciathegoat

“Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is Cyber Bullying Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Nigga Close Your Eyes Haha.”

But in all seriousness, be careful because maybe you won’t face issues with bullying in the real world but you’ll be living two lives from age 12. The best advice is to not put anything on the internet that your mother would not approve of and to realize that social media haters are nothing to your success as a person.

A lot of the time the two lives will intersect and you’ll deal with things like F.O.M.O., (Fear Of Missing Out) knowing you young Sarah, you probably would be too busy with theatre, sports, art etc. to care about what is happening online, but sometimes it will get to you. You’ll find the importance of building social credit but fear not it is not a waste of time to have a social media presence because by 2015 you’ll realize that having a social media presence is a crucial part of your future. Your business will depend on it; your network will depend on it.

Please have fun enjoying social media for all it’s fun aspects and try not to become addicted.

Spoiler alert, you will become addicted to social media at some point and it is literally going to be like quitting cigarettes. But social media will be a part of your life and will feel natural eventually. The addiction will pass and you’ll be having a fairly decent relationship with it.

It is honestly a good time until you realize it’s work. Which it will become. I’ll just be straight up and tell you that at some point you’ll want to get rid of your social media entirely and you won’t be able to. Sounds bad but honestly you just need balance between your online and offline life. Balance is the key for dealing with mostly anything including the difficulties of balancing two lives.

My last piece of advice is to not believe everything you hear online, overreacting, lying, hating, and just being an asshole is nothing new for the internet.
