BuzzFeed is an independent digital media company that delivers both news and entertainment to millions of people around the world. BuzzFeed is featured on Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter and many other social platforms. For Most people they are a reliable social of information, however whether they are trustworthy or not is the questionable to more people. BuzzFeed is hard to ignore because it is simply on every platform that we are forced to come across it at some point in our social media experience. It is so easy to access and can be used as a source for countless purposes, it also has a huge following despite it begin questionable on trust.

On YouTube they have everything from news, DIYs, reaction videos etc… Their YouTube platform is organized into different channels making each certain for a different purpose and targeted toward a different audience, it also makes certain video subjects easy to find for viewers. BuzzFeed yellow is targeted toward adults and daily struggles everyone goes through. BuzzFeed Blue is all reaction videos, BuzzFeed Violet features a series called unfortunately Ashly; the list goes on and on (….literally they have so many YouTube channel) The reason for all these different channels is because BuzzFeed has chosen to be a multipurpose platform. They literally have something for everyone which is one of the reasons I think they are so successful and popular. They have created a company that targets such a wide range of consumers its hard for people not to like BuzzFeed. I would say BuzzFeed is now considered a trusted source at least by majority of young people. BuzzFeed uses social media as leverage, which I believe is one of the reason it has created so much hype.

I would call BuzzFeed real journalism because they do have a strong team that puts together all of their content. A lot of their articles go toward helping to debunk fake news. Although most of their content is on the entertainment side of things they still put a lot of effort into reporting real news. If BuzzFeed wants to become the future of media they should focus on trying to gain the trust and respect of a wider audience because they need to get rid of that impression that they only makes dumb quiz’s. When people think of BuzzFeed they automatically think of their quiz’s, in order for buzz to become the future I think they would have to do some rebranding in order for people to take them more seriously. This will help them to stay in competition with other news companies such as BBC, CBC, CTV. These companies are easier to trust simply because they only report news, their entertainment components are not their may focus.
