Wins and Fails

Budweiser Commercial:

This year’s super bowl had a lot of great commercial, such as guardians of the galaxy 2, the second season of stranger things, and the list goes on. But there was a particular commercial that many people did not like. Budweiser decided to make a 60 sec commercial about the story and the struggle of one of their cofounders. He was a man from Germany that immigrated to America, it showed Americans not being welcoming and him going through his struggles. He then finds the other cofounder and decided to make a beer, the end. A ton of people were not happy about this this ad. They didn’t like the fact that Budweiser was trying to take a political stance. People then took this to twitter giving the Hash tag #boycottBudweiser. One example of a tweet was “this Bud’s no longer for me it is activist juice.” So I say this type of social media was an epic fail because it tried to tell the story of its cofounder but ended up being turned into a political statement.

Lady Gaga Memes:

Lady Gaga had a successful half time super bowl performance but she could not run away from the memes. A lot of the memes were focused on her hanging from a wire, her jumping off the stage and of course her outfits. Some examples were she dressed up as spider man or pictures from a sponge bob episode where sponge bob was hanging from a wire in a crazy outfit. I believe that this type of social media was a win. Even though Lady Gaga was getting made fun of she was still getting free publicity. For example if someone were to not watch her performance and they see the memes about her, they might want to go back and watch her performance to understand the memes.
