Conclusion of Ruangguru’s 5 Year Anniversary Celebration

Jakarta, July 20th, 2019. The peak of the fifth Ruangguru birthday celebration has been broadcasted simultaneously in 10 national TV (07–18). The event was hosted by Yuki Kato and Andhika Pratam and was enlivened by performances from Via Vallen, Tulus and also the newest Ruangguru Brand Ambassador, Anneth and Nashwa Idol Junior. At the event, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, also expressed his birthday wishes to Ruangguru.

“Five years of work, the Ruangguru application developed into the largest learning application in Indonesia. Through technology and quality learning materials, more than 10 million students now have learning alternatives that are easily accessible and affordable,” said Jokowi.

During the past week, Ruangguru was ranked fourth in the top charts of the Play Store and App Store, the highest-ranking for applications made locally and in the field of education in the top 5 list. Ruangguru is also trending on social media and is also a popular search on Google. Within 5 years, Ruangguru services have helped more than 15 million students and 300,000 teachers throughout Indonesia to obtain quality learning and teaching materials, with a satisfaction level of 9.3 out of 10. The Ruangguru application also gets the highest rating for learning application in Indonesia, with a rating of 4.7 out of 5. At the end of 2019, Google Play User’s Choice Award 2019 also put Ruangguru as the most popular learning application in 2018 and the third most favorite application for the Indonesian people.

At the event, the two founders of Ruangguru, Belva Devara and Iman Usman also delivered three new features launched in the new school year to make the learning experience far more effective and interesting. First, the Smart Recommendation feature that can automatically detect student weaknesses and provide recommendations for learning materials needed by students. Second, the Ruangguru Adventure feature, which makes the learning feel like a game. Through this feature, each user will have an avatar and they can compete to collect points from each activity in the application. These points can then be exchanged for various digital items in the application. Finally, not to forget, Ruangguru also launched the Social Learning feature, which allows each user to interact and discuss school lessons with other users. Users can also interact with teachers through the live teaching feature that can be watched in the application.

We are grateful that for 5 years we have worked, first, we started from a dream to be able to improve the access and quality of education in Indonesia until now it has been used by millions of students. Hopefully what we do can always be beneficial for all and also for Indonesia,” said Belva Devara, Ruangguru’s co-founder, and CEO.

To add to the excitement of the event, Ruangguru held a live quiz in the application during the event with special prizes in the form of pulsa totaling in millions of rupiah, tablets, laptops, motorbikes and the main prize of 100 million Rupiah that could be used for education savings.
