Bridging communities through bath parties

It’s hard to spend more than 10 minutes on NFT Twitter without seeing someone tweeting “WAGMI”. WAGMI stands for “we are all gonna make it” and it captures the collaborative spirit of the web3 space. The spirit of WAGMI is so unique to web3, because for the first time ever, the incentive structure is aligned between collectors and artists. If the artist wins, the collectors win and vice versa.

You can find WAGMI culture in all aspects of the space, from alpha groups to collaborations between different artists. From developers sharing and reviewing each others code to collectors actively building communities. The collaborative spirit is incredibly strong and makes it so rewarding to be a participant in the space.

Today we’re announcing how we are planning to support other collections and incentivize long term holding of a diverse set of art works. But first, a quick refresher on how bath parties work!

Bath parties?

For those who are new to Rubber Duck Bath Party, the collection is dynamic and changes based on the individual decisions of collectors. How? By attending Bath Parties! Once in a while we organize a party and as a duck collector you get to decide if you want to send your duck to a party. The only thing we promise, is that your duck will come home changed forever. Bath Parties are the core mechanism that drive the dynamic nature of the RDBP collection.

During a regular party only a single trait will change. The party algorithm will first randomly select the trait category to change, and then use a weighted randomizer to decide what trait it will replace it with. If we take for example the duck below, the algorithm first selected to change the head trait category and then decided to replace the toilet paper with a baseball cap. During the following party, the algorithm selected the background to change and followed with selecting the clouds.

We really love surprises, and not all parties will have identical party logic or trait distributions. For instance, some parties might only change certain attributes or there could be hardcore parties where more than a single trait can change! As a duck collector you will have all the information on the party dynamics beforehand and you can decide on your party strategy accordingly.

How we plan to incentivize long term art collectors

In the true spirit of WAGMI, we are currently conceptualizing and experimenting with new ways we can incentivize collectors to hold artworks from other collections for the long term.

Although we haven’t completely worked it out the details yet, one of the concepts we are researching is how holding certain NFTs might influence the chances of getting a specific trait during a party. For example, if you have a Slimes World NFT in your collection you might have a higher chance of getting a unique and rare Slime tattoo during a Bath Party.

Owning a Slime might increase your chances of getting a super rare Slime tattoo

You can see how this can get super interesting, as the party algorithm might be influenced by what other NFTs you hold as a collector. Your duck art will literally be influenced by the art you have collected! Not only does it allow for a new type of deep collaboration with other artists and collections, it also encourages long-term holding of art.

We will keep on exploring and experimenting with new ways to fully utilize the open nature of the blockchain, web3 tech and the collaborative spirit of the community to build a world where we all are gonna make it.

WAGMI, frens!
