The Beatles Go Solo

When The Beatles disbanded in early 1970 amidst a flurry of inflated ego, frustrated business meetings, and looming legal disputes, each member of the group began shifting their focus upon a solo career. No longer would John and Paul come to one another for a lyric polish or a missing middle 8. No longer would George have to fight for his songs to be taken seriously and included on an album. No longer would Ringo be the thriving heartbeat, the balance, for the others’ compositions. No longer would John, Paul, George, and Ringo be Beatles together.

No longer could the world wonder what magic The Beatles might come up with next…

And while at the time John and George had yet to release their first proper solo albums, the release of Ringo and Paul’s debuts just months prior to “Let It Be” was all too indicative of the disjointed creative energy within the group. This is to say that The Beatles were fed up with making “Beatles music”. Instead, the four began feeling the need to create something that was purely their own. And as a result, each Beatle would eventually go on to gift the world with their first solo album.
