A fairy tale setup with million-dollar smiles, every wedding wants to create a perfect collection of memories. The couple — their families and friends try to preserve the traditions and celebrations in a dreamy jar of fun engagements of the wedding.

Indian weddings come with plentiful festivities, vibrant culture and a host of traditions all set on a platter. With a set plater of elegant events to remember for a lifetime, the couples today use social media to stack up the moments.

Some weddings host a website and some live stream the functions to allow long-distance relatives and friends to be a part of the special day.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat all tie into the social network where WhatsApp and WeChat have worked their way into social communications.

#saveTheDate

The wedding timeline begins with the #saveTheDay notifications. Social media and social communication tools tie up friends, the family, and a few acquaintances. What better way to inform the extended online family than using the quirky posters of the wedding date!

A simple poster with the date, the engagement pictures or the relationship update with a cute tag line is enough to let people know that the couple is ready to tie the knot.

#preWedding #photoShoot

Clear pictures of the couple, in medieval costumes or even picturesque sceneries, mark the pre-wedding shenanigans. The beautiful photoshoot also helps them interact better. The photo shoot goes on for a few days, requiring changes of costumes.

Some couples even add #preWeddingVideo — music video marking their romance and what they mean to each other. The video, especially written and directed for them, contains an original soundtrack. Every couple wants to feel special for the wedding day, and this unique choice makes me feel special for sure.

Cool #hashtag

Social media does not restrict amalgamating nicknames of couples to celebrities. #nicYanka and #deepVeer are popular names for “Nick Jonas-Priyanka” and “Deepika-Ranveer”. Today, anyone can choose a cool hashtag for the wedding and tag all pictures and videos around the wedding to make the marriage trend on social media.

#teamBride and #teamGroom

A big part of the wedding is the bachelor and the bachelorette party, where the friends of the groom and bride celebrate the pre-married life. While some people travel and others have a celebratory party. The Team Bride and the Team Groom share some funny and embarrassing moments on social media.

Some weddings make the bride side, and the groom side dress-up in specific colours to match the Bride and Grooms attire.

#preCelebrations fun

If the wedding is a destination wedding, then the teams ensure that they cover the views of the destination. What about a fun family night? Yes, the teams battle it out on the dance floor or join in a friendly match of cricket or football or indulge in an entertaining Antakshari.

What better way to add fun than include funny props like oversized glasses and funny wigs with quirky tag-lines!

We always keep an eye for romantic performances by the couple themselves — be it dance numbers or poetry or songs for one another. And when the couple performs, the video trends on social media for sure.

#candidMoments

The photoshoots formalities for the couple never end. Apart from the pre-wedding shoots, some couple shares the wedding planning updates — clothes shopping to wedding hall visits, etc.

The biggest photoshoot, however, is when the couple gets ready for the ceremonies. Candid stills of jewellery shots, a reflection on the mirror or the stills of wearing the turban while the mother of the groom adjusting it, the photographers showcase the delicate moment with the exact emotion.

#theWedding

The ceremonial extravagant, when the couple gets locked into the relationship, is precious. Wedding planning includes the design of the grand entrance — how the bride and groom would enter, the colours on the stage and music in the background. Fragments of the surroundings — the stage, the lighting, the ambience, and the clothes alone factor to a small extent. During the marriage, the camera captures all the million rollercoasters the couple and their family feel.

The #justMarried

Once upon a time, after a wedding, there was a honeymoon, and after post-wedding functions, the couple would retire the celebrations. Today, we have extended the tradition to adding the spectacular wedding reflections in the form of video glimpses of the festivities. Though small, the 3–4 minute video showcases quick bites from the people behind the wedding party. The video becomes a reference to cherish wonderful wedding experiences.

All the social media extravagant helps in creating and preserving the perfect set of memories. The hashtags entice vivid reminiscent of the wedding with easy access to pictures and videos related to the day.
