From September 13th to 16th, 2018, the 3rd Taobao Maker Festival will be held in West Lake, Hangzhou, China. Ruff has been invited to showcase several blockchain technologies in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT), including a gesture controlled light switch, and their three-minute setup experience for developing an IoT lighting application.

Taobao Maker Festival is an event targeting a younger audience and follows in the wake of the “Double Eleven” Shopping Carnival. At the Taobao Maker Festival, attendees will be able to see presentations from the world’s top tech talents and performing stars, as well as visit the eccentric Taobao shops. Many participants are also expected to form “tribes” and wear costumes.

The first Taobao Maker Festival was held in Shanghai in 2016, and the second festival followed in Hangzhou. The third edition is also held in Hangzhou and will take place outdoors. The West Lake at Hangzhou will be transformed into a large scenic venue that will gather popular aspects of technology, food, fashion, and culture within six major theme markets built alongside the lake.

Ruff’s “Internet of Things geek lab” will provide three unique experiences, including an audience gesture controlled IoT light switch. This interactive display is said to “illuminate the first lights in IoT” as many public viewers will experience this technology for the first time. Geeks will also be able to use the Ruff development board to interact with IoT-based lighting. In short, everyone can participate in exciting and creative displays at the Ruff “Internet of Things geek lab”.
