I always to use the wood lathe to make things, it is doing the real handicraft.

I want to make a goblet for my first try.

First, mount the wood piece on the lathe, I have to make sure each center of the bottom is on the right place. So the wood can do a center rotation.

I use the chisel to polish the surface carefully; the feel is pretty good. After a few minutes, I can fully control my hand’s movement, which could go fast or slow, backward or forward.

To make the foot, I need to turn more on that part, I have to control my strength of pushing the chisel, I go deep a little bit then smooth this part by turning left and right. Sometimes, I need to change the chisel’s angle a little bit to make the connection smooth.

So far, everything is okay. I kept turning the neck to make it thinner and thinner. And I indulged to it. Suddenly, the tragedy happened.

I broke the neck! It happened just in a second.

That breaks my heart. But I soon learn my lesson. Never be so greedy.

And I know precisely the thinner part is very fragile, I should stop earlier, but I can not stop turning it.

After it broke, I still decide to keep finishing it. The problem is that the wood’s center moved, I can see it keep swinging up and down. That’s terrible.

I turned some texture on the body, but I can never make it because of missing the center.

Finally, I sand its surface. And it looks like this.
