Yesterday I did something I didn’t think I could do. Well, I lie, I did think I could do it, but I wasn’t sure how well I’d be able to. It was my 118th run (yes I’ve been keeping track) since starting back up again.

But not only that.

Yesterday I got up early, on a Sunday, to run a Half Marathon. Not an actual race, mind you. Just the distance of a half marathon — 21km or 13.1 miles — around my neighbourhood. It was a challenge to myself to see if I could run that far since starting up running again last July and slowly, slowly building up my distance and endurance and fitness over the last 9 months.

And I was able to do it! I knew I could. I just wasn’t sure how long it would take me. It did take me longer than I’d hoped, so even though I’m slightly disappointed by that, I’m still proud of myself. I did it in 2 hours and 43 minutes. I was hoping to do it closer to 2 hours 30, but then again this wasn’t a race and I wasn’t pushing myself. In fact, I was trying to go nice and slow and take it as easy as possible and enjoy it.
