As I’ve mentioned ad nauseum, I’m new to running.

Or rather, re-new. I used to run for a few years about 10 years ago before I stopped.

But now I’m back at it and learning new things along the way as I progress in my running journey again and I’m becoming just a little bit obsessed with it. I’m enjoying it so much! I’ve definitely caught the running bug (again). I wish I could run every day, but I’m taking the overwhelming advice to…not, and only run 3 days a week. At least for now, since I’ve only been running again for the last 6 months, since the start of July. Maybe once I’ve been running 3 days a week for a while I can up it to 4, and maybe eventually 5, but I also want to be kind to my body and not cause any undue injury due to over-running.

Anyway, to the crux of my piece today. After every run I do — whether 20 minutes or an hour and a half, when I first finish and get back home I feel great! Tired, of course, because I’ve just been running and expending energy, but energized, if that makes sense? (If you’re a runner, of course it does!). And I jump in the shower and get all nice and fresh. And I feel fine….for at least an hour or so.

And then it hits me — a wave of exhaustion from nowhere. One minute I’m good, relaxing, doing whatever I’m…
