Okay, well maybe they do — but only a little!

I’m training for my first 10k race since 2015. I stopped running in January 2016, after my mom died — because, grief. I shouldn’t listen to it. Well, I should to an extent…but stopping running was a silly thing to do! It probably would have helped me at the time. It’s proven to help your mental health — exercise in general that is. And running is my me-time and time to clear my head and just be me, my breath and my body out on the pavement (as much as possible, because I’m not a treadmill fan. I don’t have one. Maybe I would be if I did.)

Anyways…on Boxing Day this week, it was nice weather — mild, sunny. So I thought I’d give running 90 minutes a try. I did a 90 minute Rock Run with Susie Chan on the Peloton app. I wasn’t sure how I would do, but I thought I’d give it a go. I’d only run 10k a couple of times prior to this.

But, I thought, what better time to go for a long run than after Christmas and a little bit of indulging in sweets and other foods?

So I aimed to run to a park that has a picturesque little lake in the middle, and then home again. The run to (and from) the lake is kind of…blah. It’s underneath an overhead subway-line a lot of the way, kind of through a somewhat industrial area, before the last little section which is back…
