There, I’ve said it.

I’ve actually been thinking about this for the past few weeks/months. Thinking about the idea. Wrapping my head around it. Wondering if I could do it (I know I could but… I’ve never even run a marathon!).

And by ultra, I’m not talking anything crazy like 50 miles or 100 miles (or 200!).

I “just” want to do 50km. Officially the shortest distance to be classed as an ultra (though technically any distance over a full marathon (26.2 miles/ 42 km) is an ultra. So like 42.1km. Or 42. But I want to give 50km a go. That is my next goal for myself.

But…even though when I’ve brought up this idea/thought in some Facebook running groups, many people have suggested to me that I should definitely sign up for an actual race because it’s so much better (the community, the atmosphere, the experience). I’m not sure I want to do that. That seems like a lot of extra pressure/expectation on myself.

And besides, when I told my husband my idea a week or so ago, his answer was:

WHY?!?!?!
