I know a lot of us runners probably have a running routine — like running X number of days a week, maybe with a long run on a weekend day, maybe some different types of runs during the week…

But what happens when you have to skip a run because…well, life! Maybe you’re busy, maybe you’re traveling and can’t, maybe you have an injury or are sick or feel like you need to skip your run that you normally do because of XYZ…

How does it make you feel?

Are you bothered by it? Does it make you feel bad or like you have ‘failed’ because you didn’t meet your self-imposed routines? Do you try to squeeze in your missed run and potentially over-train which could lead to injury?

Or do you shrug and say to yourself ‘oh well, stuff happens, there’s always other days! Rest days are good for you anyway and you can do other stuff’

I had to miss a run earlier this week due to injury and I’m finding myself struggling between those 2 things above — getting annoyed at myself and wanting to ‘make up lost time’ and also realizing it’s OKAY to miss a run every once in…
