Charity Run race. I run for those who can’t. Wings for Life supports cutting-edge research worldwide. To find a cure for spinal cord injury.

What is the Wings for Life World Run?

The Wings for Life World Run is a global charity race held in May every year. 100% of entry fees and donations go to research projects supported by Wings for Life.

Wings for Life has made finding a cure for spinal cord injury its aim. Since 2004, Wings for Life has funded research projects and clinical studies around the globe.

Around the world, millions of people suffer from the effects of spinal cord injury. In more than half of the cases, these injuries are caused by a car accident or a fall. They can affect anyone. Science agrees: that injured nerve cells are capable of regeneration.

“Together we will find a cure for spinal cord injury”

Sometimes, it is much more than not being able to walk anymore.
A spinal cord injury brings with it a high degree of health complications and limitations in daily life, such as:

  • Sensory Disturbance
  • Paralysis
  • Breathing problems
  • Impaired bladder and bowel function
  • Autonomic function disorders
  • Impairment of sexual function

“The question is not if we will find a cure, but when”

How can you be a part of it?

You have two options: You take part in a Flagship Run or run with the App. You can go to the website of Wings for Life and register registration.wingsforlifeworldrun.com

  • Flagship Run means that you run from the official start in your country. In 2024, it was available in Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Croatia, Munich, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
  • Run with the App means that you can run individually or join the App Run Event. When you start simultaneously with every other participant, you’ll be chased by a virtual Catcher Car. Your app will update you with how far ahead you are and when you’ll be caught up. Then your race is over and you’ll see your score on the global leaderboard.

What should you know about this run?

This is undoubtedly a different race with people from different geographies taking part.

30 minutes later, the Catcher Car will begin its pursuit. There is no actual finish line. You keep running until the Catcher Car reaches you. Then you’ve completed the race, and it’s time to celebrate 🙂 As long as runners outrun the car, they remain in the race. If you want to set a personal goal, the Goal Calculator can help you.

Wings for Life World Run 2024 Race

In 2024, the race took place on May 5. The 265,818 World Runners from around the globe walked, ran, rolled, and raised over €8.1 million for spinal cord research.

You can become part of the global phenomenon of racing. People from different geographical regions, cultures, and different locations will try their luck and run at the same time.

Why is this race so important to me?

My running story began 5 years ago after I had some back issues. My back pain made it hard for me to walk. Thanks to treatment, I now run half marathons and even one marathon. That’s why I take part in this race, and even if I can’t run, I register like a donation. 🙂
