When we first saw Dior Johnson back in 2016 he was a low key floor general leading a regional EYBL feeder via City Rocks. Now, after a transitive freshman campaign, the Nations Top Point Guard (regardless of class) seeks a California state title and National Dominance.

Growing up, Dior got his competitive grit on the football field and just hooping in New York over and over getting a feel for the game learning how individual defenders respond. It’s so evident in his game. I’m excited for how much he continues to add.

“He’s not robotic and very, I mean very unpredictable” — Ace Bentayga

Players who over train can’t create on the fly. Cones, foam noodles, and trainers who lack knowledge can’t replace reps with resistance (Humans who are defending to stop you).

Dior Johnson’s @diorr game is like Water. Able to get to where he wants to go regardless of the barrier. His choppy feet in-between dribbles, his reluctance to pick up his dribble unless a decision is being made, and his ability to find and create crevices + elite advantage in PnR situations.

Recently, when asked about his development he was very matter fact that he didn’t start training until his Freshman year in High School.

“I didn’t take hoop serious as my first sport and fully dropped Football freshman year” — Dior

One underrated facet of Johnson’s game is his leadership qualities. He never stops talking, he is engaged with coaches and his teammates believe that he is looking to create the best opportunity for a high percentage shot attempt.

Now on the West Coast, his body is chiseled, his athleticism exploded and his creativity heightened by competition amongst the Nations best, Dior continues to morph him into a lottery pick Point Guard.
