First, welcome to the most supportive community ever!

It’s widely recognized that recreational running and jogging tend to boom when the economy is suffering. It seems like we’re all out there trying to get our exercise in, but every runner’s “why” is different.

Whether it’s trying to burn off some extra calories from stress-eating, to alleviate stress itself, or we just have more time on our hands, the number of people outside for some physical activity has increased substantially these past few weeks.

So, to help our new or returning community members, here are some common running mistakes and how to avoid them:

  1. Focusing on accessories and toys.

Running was the simplest when there were only a few shoe companies and you had to choose whatever model was available in your size.

Nowadays, it’s easy to become overwhelmed between all the GPS and smartwatches, heart-rate monitors, hydration belts, gels, balms/salves, rollers, and fancy carbon-plated shoes.

From someone who has most of this stuff, let me tell you: you don’t need any of it.
