Training

This 10km race fit perfectly into my training plan for several upcoming half-marathons next month. While I wasn’t following a dedicated 10km training schedule, I was using this race as an opportunity to sharpen my race-day skills and experience the pre-race jitters, race atmosphere, and everything that comes with competing. It allowed me to test my pacing strategy and practice fueling for a race effort within the context of my broader half-marathon training program.

Pre-Race

The morning of the race, I woke up at 5:45 am after about 6–7 hours of sleep — my sleep hasn’t historically been the best, especially on race nights — and opted for a classic runner’s pre-race…
