How I Continued To Run Streak on Vacation Without My Family Hating Me

I aim to run every day. I don’t race; I’m simply running as my preferred method of body movement for physical and mental health. Because of that, I often find myself in a run streak, whether accidentally or on purpose.

However, I never want my running to come at the expense of my health or time with my family. Taking care of myself is essential, and it’s good for my girls to see me chase my goals, but I don’t want to miss out on special time with them.

Plans to end the streak

Reviewing our summer calendar and the initial vacation we had planned, I realized I would have to stop my current run streak at day 293. It irked me to do it so close to 300. This streak started the day I was cleared to run after my foot sprain last September, so it held importance.

But our plan was to drive west across the country for two weeks, stopping in a different city or town every night. Long drive days and a tight timeline didn’t lend themselves to running at least a mile every day, not without my family making sacrifices, which I felt were unfair.
