IT’S HERE! IT’S HERE! SUMMER IS HERE!

Well at least the warmer running weather is here. While we still have another 20-odd days left to go before it’s “officially” Summer, it’s starting to warm up quite a bit (or at least here in Toronto). I’m currently at home with the window open to try and make some sort of cross breeze with the icy cold hallway outside our apartment.

The sun is shining, the temperature is just about bearable (for me at least). I find we’re all generally happier people soaking up that glorious Vitamin D (especially after our long Canadian Winters). With the amazing weather, we also want to work out more, but who’s actually motivated to do a HIIT session or go running in the heat?

While some of us would rather sit back in our deck chairs and sip on a beverage, some still want to get their workouts in. As gyms are still closed and I do not own a treadmill, this means running outside in the heat.

Now running in this kind of heat can be very dangerous especially for the new or inexperienced runner. Heat strokes are all too common while running in what some people may consider a cool 20 something day in the shade. This is my fourth time running through the summer and I’ve been fortunate to…
