Finding the right gift, unique and useful, is challenging, especially if the person you are shopping for doesn’t need anything specific. Finding a gift for a runner can be especially difficult since running is not an equipment-intensive sport. A good pair of shoes is really all that is needed to get out there and pound the pavement, and running shoes can be difficult to gift if you don’t know the needs of the person you are giving them to.

It turns out there are many great gifts for runners that can be used in training or to aid in recovery. Here are five gift suggestions for your running friend or loved one:

Nothing says I love you like a giant hug — which is why the first gift recommendation involves compression. Nearly all professional teams and top college running programs use a form of compression whether they are using wearable options or pneumatic compression recovery systems.

Wearable compression pants manufacturers claim their tights send blood to the heart by squeezing leg muscles and glutes.
