Try These Exercises, and Run Faster as a Result

For us mere mortals, this won’t make us Usain Bolt fast anytime soon, but something the majority of us runners aim for in our training is to run a little bit (or a lottle bit) faster (it rhymed so I’m sticking with it).

I myself am working towards a few goals, one including shaving five minutes off my average 5k time and bring it below 25 minutes, and to get towards 55 minutes for the 10k. My main goal for 2020 is to bring my half marathon time to sub-2 hours. Again, not lightning quick to some, but right now it’s 20 minutes faster which equates to trimming 57 seconds off my per kilometre pace.

The main question is how do we get faster? What can we do to shave off that single minute per kilometre?

Firstly we need to become comfortable with pushing ourselves just a little bit more in our training. We do this by increasing the intensity of our workouts. Something that will make breathing a little harder, our muscles to feel like they’re burning, and we may even feel like…
