Which of the World Marathon Majors Have the Most Balanced Distribution of Men and Women?

And has the entrance of the Sydney Marathon changed anything?

In the past year, I’ve done deep dives into five of the World Marathon Majors — Chicago, New York, Boston, London, and Berlin.

Until recently, though, I haven’t been able to collect data on the Tokyo Marathon. But now that Sydney will officially be joining the ranks of the Majors, I wanted to be able to do a deep dive comparing the seven races in several different ways.

So I took another crack at the Tokyo Marathon website, and I figured out how to collect the results from the last few years. I’ll work on a more in-depth piece about the history of the Tokyo Marathon for the spring, but in the meantime, I wanted to start with a simple question exploring the differences between the seven races.
