There is a big difference between Track and Field. When you think about the sport, you mainly just think of running. But track is not all running. In fact, there are many other options to choose from that don’t require running. The field aspect includes many different aspects. These consist of javelin, discus, pole vault, shot put, long jump, and high jump. If you are not interested or running is not your strength, then the field part of track is the one for you. Javelin summed up is just basically where you throw a long stick as far as you can. Discus has the same concept but instead of using a pole, they use a heavier frisbee object. Shot put is also like these two but you use a very heavy ball that you throw as far as you can. Many people know what pole vaulting is because it’s commonly watched during the olympics. This sport has a little bit of running but way less than a 100m dash. There are also a couple kinds of jumping. You can choose from long jump where you jump a long distance into a sand pit. And then there is high jump where you jump over a horizontal pole onto a soft mat. Remember to keep an open mind when joining track because it isn’t all about running in the long run.
