  • stretching is not going to prevent you from getting injuries

What you’ve been hearing your whole life about stretch before you run to help prevent injuries is wrong, don’t get me wrong stretching can help prevent injuries when it comes to explosive or bouncing movements like in volleyball or basketball , research has proven for low intensity activities such as running that because you don’t need very compliant tendoms for that activity.

  • If you want to become a better runner you need to run more than you do now

The number of miles you run each week is the most important part of becoming a better runner for many reasons such as running more stimulates many physiological, biochemical and molecular adaptions.

  • your lung capacity has nothing to do with your ability to run

If the size of your lungs mattered you would expect most of the best distance runners in the world to have larger lungs but however that is the complete opposite most of the best distance runners are small with characteristically small lungs

  • your muscle fiber type will dictate which races you’ll be best at

For a example if you have a lot of fast- twitch anaerobic muscle fibers you’ll be good at sprints but if you have a 50/50 mix or 60/40 mix of slow- twitch and fast- twitch then you’ll be good at middle distance of running.
