Byobu cheatsheet — мost used hotkeys

Byobu is a GPLv3 open source text-based window manager and terminal multiplexer.

In simple terms, it’s a great thing to run several sessions in one terminal, switch between them and not lose the result of work when the ssh break.

Below, I gave a list of the most necessary hotkeys:

ctrl-a + ?                    - help
ctrl-a + \                    - kill byobu
shift-f6 - detach without kill
ctrl-a + ctrl-d - detach without kill
// Windows management
ctrl-a + c - create new window
ctrl-a + k - kill current window
ctrl-a + " - choose window from list
ctrl-a + s - choose window from list
ctrl-a + ctrl-space - next window
ctrl-a + ctrl-n - next window
ctrl-a + ctrl-c - next window + cd to current path
alt+left, alt-right - switch windows
// Panels management
ctrl-a + tab - next panel
ctrl-a + % - split current panel by vertical
ctrl-a + | - split current panel by horizontal
shift+left,
shift+right,
shift+up,
shift+down - switch panels
alt+shift-left,
alt+shift-right,
alt+shift-up,
alt+shift-down - resize panels
// Scroll page buffer
alt-pgUp, alt-pgDown - scroll buffer

You can find more information on the official website — http://byobu.co/.

There are versions for Linux and for OSX (it’s easy to install via brew).

Have a nice work!

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
