About the Author

Sierra Layton is currently a student at Heartland Community College student, striving to become an ESL teacher. The goal in creating this story was to bring up awareness surrounding the ever evolving domestic violence issues occurring in Russia. In todays media, it’s not often that domestic violence is brought up. Especially when news regrading Russia is spoken of, it’s because of Putin’s relationship to disturbing the US Presidential voting system or Donald Trump. Underneath all of that is a deep path a destruction lead by those that believe the traditional russian family should be allowed to handle private affairs however they would like to. Resulting in women being murdered by the thousands ever years because of domestic violence.

The authors point in this blog post was to identify the not well known about issue of Domestic Violence in Russia, but also bring to light that it occurs wherever you are, and to not be afraid to stand against it.
