Rust in Production is written by and for engineers building Rust applications in a production setting. That can be on the web, embedded, distributed as a package, for-profit, open-source, or any other setting with users that could be meaningfully construed as “production”! All kinds of writing are welcome. This includes walkthroughs and opinions, observations, or even proposals for the future of building in Rust.

How to start writing for us!

We’re looking for writers who want to build in Rust, build well, and keep finding ways to improve.

If you’re interested, please do two things:

  • Ensure your story doesn’t have typos or basic grammatical errors (Grammarly-free is a good resource!)
  • Send a draft link to kmcfadden95@gmail.com (if you hit the 3-dot menu there’s an option called Share draft link you can use)

From there I’ll take a look and add it to the publication. I will also add you as a writer so you can submit to Rust in Production right from the 3-dot menu anytime you’re working on a story after that!

Our style guidelines

Beyond basic grammar, I’m not overly picky. I think writing is best when the author has a distinct voice. I don’t want to take that voice away by enforcing what are, in my opinion, pedantic rules like title-casing headings and so on. Write how you see fit. It’s far more important that your story and your ideas are vibrant!

If you’ve got interesting experience or new thoughts you want to bring to the table, please send a draft over. I’ll comment on anything that might need touching up while keeping your style and ideas intact. I’m looking forward to reading your work!
