Today I woke up and two of the automation scripts I’ve run against the Twitter API for the last 4 years have seemed to stop functioning. I’ve been anticipating this for months, wondering how it would roll out to low-level users like me. I didn’t expect to be able to do this forever, knowing the API changes in the 2010’s cut off web integrations and modules I had running on the previous version of Twitter’s API when they updated it that last time. Over the course of a week, I watched as most of the accounts went dark, returning an immediate 401 error for service to the Twitter API.
