Making Blockchain and User Experience merge into one.

Joining products

Many people don’t know this but Rutile started out as an effort to increase the availability and security of PlayOS. We wanted to create a system that allows us to run PlayOS on any server without any chance of downtime. Naturally, we looked into blockchain technology. It allowed creating an incentive for other servers to run PlayOS for other people. But we wanted to allow anyone to run anything on it, thus creating Rutile. Shifting our focus from PlayOS to Rutile.

But PlayOS is still something we want to give to the world and we want to give it an opportunity to shine with Rutile. That’s why we have decided to make it a community effort in order to let anyone use PlayOS.

PlayOS on desktop and mobile

What is PlayOS?

PlayOS is a web operating system. It allows you to use any device with a web browser to access applications, games, files and more. It syncs all your progress and files across devices so you can continue right where you left off. No matter where you are, PlayOS is there with you.

PlayOS is a fully working product with an app store, a virtual file drive, multi-tasking, personalization and more. It’s focused on the user experience, allowing anyone to use the platform without a big learning curve.

How are we going to combine Rutile and PlayOS?

It’s no secret that blockchain is complicated for most users. It feels foreign and gets confusing very quickly. With managing private keys, figuring out how to get the native token and how to use Dapps. Rutile solves some of these issues by making it not necessary for users to retrieve tokens. But we want to give users the full package. Allowing easy access to Dapps.

For this we are going to do the following:

  • Use Rutile as the kernel of PlayOS, including storing files and executing programs.
  • Make the PlayOS app store decentralized so that anyone can submit their Dapp and have users find them.
  • An easy way to create in app purchases for Dapps to earn RUT.
  • Have the full offline experience on Rutile.

Call for community

We want this OS to be a full community effort. We will open-source the code (Currently a centralized version) but that won’t be enough. We want you to let us know what features you would want in this OS.

Together we can make the greatest decentralized Operating System on the web.
