To be a strong leader, you need to have confidence and not some cocky bullish wannabee swag. You need that pure confidence you only get from experience and from knowing you absolutely believe in yourself.

Adversities make or break leaders, but the key to going over challenges is to acknowledge them head on and face the facts. The more that you avoid or deny the situation, the lesser the chance you can make a sound decision on how to approach the conflict.

But how do you face the adversity and tell it to literally f*ck off?

Simple, you just do.

Have you ever been in a competition? How about in a fight? Have you ever been in a position where you were challenged and you know that this person could not really compete with you? Need more suggestions? OK. How about if you have a 7-year-old boy call you out saying, “Hey! I bet you can’t do more than 10 points in this shoot-out!” and you know that you were your high school’s MVP?

Do you get it now?

The only difference in adversity is that it feels either the same as your level or even better than you. But, look at it this way, if you were the 7-year-old boy who wants to replace Stephen Curry in the NBA in the next 15 years, would you challenge an adult to a shoot out? Would you be confident enough to push through even though you’re not sure if you’ll win or lose?

Yes, of course! You will replace Steph. You better be good enough to win a shoot-out with a stranger!

This is how risk-takers face challenges. Just like what Gary Vaynerchuk would always say, he actually enjoys getting knocked down and standing right back up just to tell that “challenge,” “Is that all you’ve got?” They have a bigger goal in mind so the obstacle they are facing now becomes tiny in comparison. They know that if they want to be bigger, they should be to overcome this.

So, if you’re ever in a tough situation, you wiggle your arms out. Physically manifest this confidence. Warm up your mind and remember your wins; remember the challenges you’ve overcome. Imagine yourself in a ring. Feel yourself getting bigger and bigger. Then, as you open your eyes, see that challenge out and demand its attention.

Finally, you tell that f*cking adversity that it should try its best to beat you because you know that you are never going to back down.

WHY?

Because you said it yourself!

You are going to replace Steph!
