How to record Accurate blood pressure

This video will show you how to properly place your watch in order to take blood pressure readings

First, put on the HeartGuide watch on your wrist like how you would with a regular watch. Make sure to face the monitor on the outside of your wrist. Once you have put on your watch, there are three important steps you must follow prior to recording your first measurement. Following these steps are important in order to get the most accurate results.

Step 1: Using your index and middle fingers together as an estimate, measure a space of approximately one inch between the edge of the band and the bottom of your palm.

Step 2: Make sure to adjust the band in a way that it fits comfortably yet firmly around the wrist. This will allow you to get the most accurate measurements. It is important to know that you should not put your finger beneath the band because it may alter the results of the blood pressure reading, making it less accurate.

Step 3: In this step you need to make sure that the inner cuff of the watch is positioned correctly. If the upper and lower sides of the cuff are overlapping, the lower side should be positioned underneath.

Once you have placed your watch on correctly, press the start button on the side of the watch. This will begin measurement. Once the posture screen appears, place your wrist at heart level. After approximately two seconds, the monitor will start a measurement and the cuff will inflate.

While the cuff is inflating, it is important to keep the watch still. Do not move, turn your wrist, talk to anyone or look at the watch display. Moving around may affect the results. The watch will vibrate lightly to notify that the measurement is complete. Results can then be transferred to the Omron App for further review.

Why is this important

In conclusion, this watch is an asset to the cardiac community because it makes it more accessible for patients to monitor their blood pressure. Whether it be problems with high blood pressure or below normal blood pressure, keeping your blood pressure within a normal range is extremely important. High blood pressure is one of the most prevalent diseases across the globe. For this reason, preventing high blood pressure is the most important feature that this watch has. This watch allows the prevention of heart attacks and strokes by monitoring levels daily. Another important feature that the watch has is being able to send information to family and especially doctors. This is important especially in the older patients it might be difficult to get their pressure every day and even more difficult to send it to their doctor frequently. This feature allows patients to inform of fluctuations in order to find a solution quick. In the future this can help eliminate heart attack and stroke for the next generation.
