Donald Trump is a COWARD.
Don’t you dare tell me I’m a “loser” or “sucker.”
As if this lousy episode of reality television could not get any worse. The President of the United States just called our military members “losers” and “suckers.”
His hateful rhetoric leaves me without words. I am struggling to even write this story because of how angry I am. Those who died in service to this country did so to protect our democracy. According to the President, they are “losers” and “suckers.”
HOW DARE YOU, MR. PRESIDENT!
How dare you call members of our military such names. You are the one who skipped over the draft. Your the one responsible for hundreds of thousands of people dying because of your blatant lies.
I remember the mortars blowing up around me on the base in Iraq, the fear, anxiety, and most of which I STILL LIVE! You think that because I did my duty to this country, to protect and defend this nation, that somehow I’m a “loser” or “sucker?” You dare say that our gold star families who lost their loved ones in combat are “losers” and “suckers?”
Mr. President, you are a LOSER, SUCKER, and COWARD!
How about this. Why don’t you come to say it to my face instead of hiding behind your Twitter account?
Where are the elected officials calling this what it is, an absolute outrage! I am sick of weak leadership and fed up with this blatant attack on our men and women in uniform. We need to kick this mistake out of the office before he does any more damage.
We are so much better than this.
My heart is broken. The Commander-in-Chief thinks veterans and our military members are “losers” and “suckers.” There is nothing more hurtful than being told that you are a “loser” and “sucker” because you wanted to protect and defend this country. I am hurt, but not discouraged. I will not be silent and will continue to fight for my fellow veterans. The words of our leader’s matter, especially when it comes from the leader in charge of our men and women in uniform.
My view is and always will be that we are all humans. Our humanity binds us together and we must strive towards a more equitable society. What I do not understand:
Why are elected officials ignoring the President’s comments and not calling him out?
Why are they not providing words of support?
Why are they being SILENT?
Silence is deadly. It represents complacency, ignorance, and a lack of compassion. Our elected leaders continue to fail us and I sit here, just as I am sure you do, wondering why?
I ask you to join me, be loud, be proud, be the voice for the voiceless, and advocate for our military and veteran communities. Contact your State and Congressional leaders and demand they condemn the President’s comments. He has done so much damage with this hateful rhetoric, and silence from our elected leaders makes it even more painful. It appears veterans are only useful as props during primary elections, but not when we really need our leaders to stand up for us.
In the words of the late John Lewis, let’s “Get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
Thank you, and I hope you and your family are safe during this unprecedented time.
