I was tasked with creating a digital publication with Mag+, a plugin for Adobe’s Indesign app for a Law Firm in Utah.

The purpose of this publication was to provide useful information for those that are involved in a car accident and need assistance right away. Most people don’t know what do after they are involved in a road accident or how to get compensation for their injuries and this publication was a simple answer to those problems.

My first instinct was to emulate the company’s style guide to reflect the professionalism and integrity of the Law Firm. I then collected different assets, many of which were provided to me and a color palette.

The first step to creating this publication was outlining the flow of information. I wanted to create a compelling front page that intrigued the viewer to find out more.

The small arrow you see towards the bottom right corner of the page is to help onboard the user to know that indicates swiping to view more content. This couldn’t be the only way to navigate through the pages so I created a Table of Contents page that could access the other pages of the publication with the tap of a finger.

To add an extra layer of depth to these pages, I implemented a “long start” seamless background between these first two pages, it’s a subtle design but adds a bit of flare. You’ll notice that the contents items are in a box, these squares act as “hot spots” embedded with code to link the user to the page they chose.

I thought that it would be important to first lead to a page with an introduction of the law firm. This happened to be one of my favorite pages not because of how it was designed but because of the quality of video content that I was provided with. This video really is captivating and gives the viewer a sense of hope and trust towards this law firm. Here is a link for those that wish to view it.

I forgot to mention that each page in Mag+ is referred to as a “vertical.” A vertical can actually contain more than one page or just be a very long page that you can scroll down. In this instance, after you view the introduction video you can scroll down and see another page with some text and a really neat infographic. What makes this infographic cool is because it’s on a different layer than the text above. In fact this layer is scroll-able where as the background layer stays stagnant, this shows some depth and interactivity to the publication.

The next vertical was designed so that the user could go step-by-step and see the process of what to do after they were involved in a car accident. On top of this information, to deliver the final blow, we wanted to really sell the benefits of hiring a personal injury lawyer so we designed this infographic.

And lastly, we wanted to provide additional information about other services and areas that we cater to. Each icon is tappable and provide and informative pop up of different case types that the Law Firm handles. So if you or anyone you know that could benefit from hiring a personal injury lawyer, you know where to go!

I learned a lot from this task, especially due to learning a new program, Mag+. It’s a very powerful tool that can develop apps and digital publications.
