When Life Feels Like It’s Falling Apart

Some days nothing seems right or the universe is not on our side. Like nothing is going right no matter what you do. You are heavy when you wake, the weight of your worries collapsing up against ribs that begin to doubt. Each one of them is a struggle, from each movement to every breath and all it does is remind you how heavy your baggage really is. And you wonder, why? But why does life have to be so hard, and unfair?

We all have those occasions when life starts to slip through our fingers — like sand subverting constriction. It’s at these times when true tests of faith, our patience thinning out and hope seems to be a far-fetched dream. What if the darkness we feel paralyzed within is actually not an ending but a beginning? Or are they now only parts that will mold us into our intended selves?

The Weight of Struggles

Life is one long battlefield, not even a box of chocolates. Every morning, a new challenge awaits us; something to test our mettle again and make it easy for you to question as if we were meant to be here. This is a time when you can easily be defeated, under the weight of this world it feels like a spirit crushing down. But, you see — something magic happens when you hit rock bottom. It is there, in the dark places that we really find our power. That is where we discover how far our resilience goes, and the strength of our soul.

Struggles are a mirror, reflecting the truth of who we really are. They peel back the superficial, rip away our layers of facade-ed perfection, and bring us to our knees in all-out brutal truth. It is in these moments of utter vulnerability that we find our most profound fortitude. What we know is that this episode does not define us, what defines us is the type of people we are when push comes to shove.

Embracing the Darkness

There is no lightness in the black except for being able to be still and seemingly stare our fears into submission. That it is in the silence of night when we are alone with our thoughts, our regrets, and what ohh so clear hindsight. In that stillness, as we hesitate, it is the question of whether or not this darkness swallows us up whole. Can I will myself to forge through?

Things don’t always turn out the way we’d like them to, but maybe they’re more specific than that. Maybe it is making us learn the lessons we need to create, teaching us how strong we are. We may very well feel like we are lost, that our wandering in the dark is its own inherent purpose. But in the end, sometimes the darkest roads take you to the brightest places.

The Beauty of Not Knowing

But that is beauty in not knowing what you get next. It is terrifying, yes but it is liberating. Helps take us off the hamster wheel of expectation, that we should know everything. Enables us to be present, accept the unknown, and take pleasure in what surprises life has in store for us.

In those moments of life not exactly according to our plan, it is easy to get lost. However, what if there is no standard route? What if it is not about the destination but the way there? What if every bump in the road, each detour and pitstop are taking us to exactly where we need to be?

Finding Hope in the Brokenness

There is light at the end of every dark tunnel A tiny, flickering flame that stubbornly refuses to be snuffed out. Hope that things will and are getting better, the storm is passing over, and brighter days are ahead. The hope is that we will seek solace, even if for a second. Often, that is enough.

Therefore, if life is crumbling and you feel about the world- allow yourself to be lost. It’s okay to feel broken. But you are stronger than you know, braver than you believe, and more able to do what seems impossible. This is not the end of your story, It is only a chapter, the next one may be truly magical.

“In the darkest of times, when the world feels like it’s falling apart, remember that even broken pieces can create the most beautiful mosaic.” — S.F. Geelani

Hold on to that hope, no matter how small it may seem. Hold on to it with all your might, and let it guide you through the darkness. Because sometimes, when everything seems to be falling apart, it’s actually falling into place.
