After the show, everybody was kicking it at the slick futuristic Rio de Sonhos condo Millenia Temple and her band were staying at while in town. The condo was shaped like a giant glass rubix cube, bejeweled with flowery vegetation, multiple courtyards, reflecting ponds and swimming pools.

Fausto, Mariposita, Lina Shamana, Miguelito Dice and Leapyear Quikfingers (the band’s guitarist) were in a mellow nook of a relatively unpeopled, tiki-torchlit courtyard.

Leapyear Quikfingers was playing a Ronaldo Jimi Dios cover, Jump From the Tiger on a sweet blue Spanish style acoustic, crooning in a soft, delicate sopranito:

Jump from the tiger

See his stripes

Overstand his melancholia

Land in the deep blue sea

Walk across the blue black ocean

A prophet of love

Eyes floating above and behind a wandering skull…

The soul is a magnificent boat

The fingers curl into cruel daemonic mudras

Heaven is sliced open

A child, blood-soaked and new, falls into a grassy field

Picks a flower, eats it

A child knows not what to do with a flower

Perhaps the flower is the realest meal

We are all children

We know not what we do

A thin gold chain

A bird in the rain

Pain is a boring game

When you wake up

The first thing you must do is kiss me

When I wake up

The first thing I must do

Is pinch the sky

To see

If the sky isn’t dreaming

Jump from the tiger

Dive on through to an undersea temple

Spring from aching brow of a weeping god

Push on through the clouds magnetic

Break on through to the other side of the dance floor

Ride the lightning

Run to the hills

Pain is whatever

Tears are useless

Too wet, salty

A waste of time

Serve no purpose

Happen daily

Tears are a sweet refreshment

The tears are a freedom in and of themselves

Freedoms pouring down your face

Freedom is a naked bullet

A thin gold chain

A bird in the rain

Pain is a boring game

When you wake up

The first thing you must do is kiss me

When I wake up

The first thing I must do

Is pinch the sky

To see

If the sky isn’t dreaming

The song was incredibly beautiful. Everyone within earshot was reduced to tears, the tears formed a river, they all swam in the river, piranhas of love, hungry for the flesh of peace.
