A lack of trust in banks has led to a range of radical alternatives, but this mistrust is nothing new.

Despite being founded on the notion of trust, ever since 2008 banking has become one of the most distrusted industries in the world. But this isn’t a new phenomenon, writes Erika Vause in Aeon Magazine.
