Slack could define the workplace as an AI first platform. I believe their strategy has enter strongly as a low-end disruptor while using to their advantage key elements such as mobile, data and cloud.

What I found more exciting is that they are driven true innovation in a b2b ecosystem where design and good ux was never presented like this before.

They took an approach pretty interesting, since they conceive companies not as abstract entities but as people, they built a product around a simple tool that attacked the most obvious job to be done we have seen over and over again: team communication… and they nail it, and made it better… so much better.

I think is just a matter of time we will see Slack evolve to a powerful data driven platform capable of transforming how we work and not just how we communicate. The last features they launch are very exciting and can make them move to higher markets and also create new ones.

  • Login Button embedded in third party services you already use is perfect if the want to profit as an Identity platform you will use to access to other systems or companies.
  • Messenger as the medium for mobile complements pretty well with the BYOD trend.
  • API connecting to everything thats possible make it omnipresent and if each user is able to customised as needed is the perfect mix at the end of On-Premise Software customisation.
  • Bot library built around a developer community. An AI first move for work automation and Data network effects capabilities to transform the working place and create new markets disruption too.

They do have still a compliance and security challenge ahead of them in order to attract high end customers and 500 fortune companies.. But I look forward to see when they launch blockchain features to get it right!
