Fallout 4: Wasteland Travel Vlog
When most people think of going on a vacation, they think of going to Hawaii, Florida, The River (Colorado River if you live outside California,) or Europe. Not gamers. Gamers take vacations to dragon infested tundras, the depths of space during a galactic invasion, and a retro-futuristic wasteland all from the comfort of their couch or wherever else they choose to play. Many gamers have begun their vacation in the retro-futuristic wasteland of Bethesda Game Studios’ Fallout 4. As many gamers begin their journey, maybe it’s appropriate to write a travel vlog of one such journey.
Let’s start with a “selfie” of our playable character.

A Familiar Game

Before you even enter into the wasteland you’ll find this little game, Red Menace, in the kitchen of Vault 111. You can even take the holotape with you and play it on your Pipboy during your characters travels through the wasteland.
A Cool Weapon

This is definitely something you’ll want to mark on your map. While you can’t take the Cryolator, a freeze ray, with you at the start of your journey, once you’ve become a master in lock-picking you can come back to the overseer’s office in Vault 111 and take this freeze ray for yourself.
First Look at The Wasteland

When you first exit Vault 111, you’ll get this beautiful view of the surrounding wasteland. The cliff-side view of the abandoned town down below is where you take your first step into the wasteland. As you head from here to the town of Concord, you’ll need to get in-tune with the local culture.
Getting Dressed Up

To help get yourself accustomed with the local culture, it is best to dress yourself in local garments. While these local garments are made of metal and called Power Armor and will help keep you safe in the wasteland, be careful. These garments need a battery in order to be worn.
Get Up Close With The Local Wildlife

You’ll definitely want to be wearing your nifty new threads when you get up close to the local wildlife. These big guys aren’t called Deathclaws for no reason. The good news is it’s always open season on them.
Meet The Locals

If you’re lucky enough to meet some locals who won’t shoot you on site, they may tell you about local sites and let you in on the local culture too. This guy here, Preston Garvey, is part of the local militia — The Minutemen.

Nature
If you visited the wasteland in Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas, the biggest difference you’ll notice is the abundance of trees this time around. Don’t let your nice stroll through the forest get your guard down, danger still lurks.

Unfriendly Neighbors
You have to watch out for more than just the local wildlife. Feral Ghouls, Fallout’s name for Zombies, and Synths, androids, can attack at a moment’s notice. The Ghouls will lurk out of buildings and overrun anyone who doesn’t have an eye out. Also watch out for your usual raiders.

The City
Finally, if you’re looking for a place to relax you can always try Diamond City. Full of traders and businesses, this city built into a baseball stadium is a must stop for anyone.

If none of these sites attract your attention then you can go out and explore to find your own! Fallout 4 released on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
