Make Music Pasadena Returns with Over 150 Free Musical Performances

The free music festival is back this weekend to take over the streets of ‘Dena

Story by Brittni Rae

Being that many Mt. SAC students aren’t from Pasadena, some may not know that every year, a free music festival for all ages is held in the heart of Old Town Pasadena.

The 8th annual music festival will be held this Sat., June 6, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. all throughout Downtown Pasadena. Over 150 bands are scheduled to play, some on the main stage, others in alleys, parks, rooftops, churches, museums, and libraries. It may seem that every corner turned has an artist playing, awaiting your arrival.

Music from reggae to indie rock and jazz will be played from five main stages and 30 smaller stages throughout the area. Headlining this year is experimental lo-fi group How To Dress Well, along with electronic pop from Sir-Sly, and indie folk tunes from Kaleo.

For all of us broke college-students out there who weren’t able to attend Coachella, get your dose of summer this weekend. Maybe it’s time for a much deserved break from studying for finals. If you can spare a little cash for this awesome non-profit event, Make Music is accepting donations here. There is even a chance to score some stuff like buttons or even VIP passes while helping out a good cause.
