California proposition 64, was the legalization of Marijuana in the 2016 initiative. Voting yes to prop 64 meant to support the legalization of recreational use of marijuana for persons above the age of 21, and establishing the sale and taxing of the product. Voting no meant to be opposed to the idea of recreational use of marijuana under state law.

As of November 8th, 2016 the adult use of marijuana act has been approved. Prop 64, also made it legal for individuals to grow marijuana for personal use as of November 9, 2016. But actual sales of marijuana for recreation use will not go into effect until January 1, 2018.

Here is a video of what prop 64 meant to students here at Mt.SAC, comparing the pros and cons of its passing, and what it means for Californians today.
