Student collapses in class, taken by EMS

At approximately 8:40 a.m. in Bldg. 60, a student fell unconscious and was unresponsive for roughly three minutes according to students in the class. “She said ‘I’m gonna get up and get some water,’ and then she just collapsed,” said Derek Kann, 28, chemical engineering major.

Kann sits next to the student and was on the scene when she was being taken by Emergency Medical Technicians. “She was mumbling something but it was barely a whisper,” said Kann.

Tarnay Shah, 18, computer science major was also in the class when the incident occurred. “She said she wasn’t feeling well, and then passed out. She must have been unresponsive for at least three minutes.”

According to classmates the student was a foreign exchange student from China taking the Physics 2AG class on a student exchange visa.
