Figuring Out What You Don’t Know

We’ve learned a lot since we began creating SafetyCommitteeApp.

When we started out, we thought we knew exactly what we wanted to accomplish. But after several iterations and countless changes to the application, we’ve learned one very valuable lesson:

It’s hard to know what you don’t know.

It’s the same story with your department: you want your team to get it right — you search for the best data, the most informed sources, and the most efficient way to operate. You talk it over with your team, and you put your findings into action. You create new guidelines and implement new processes. You think you’ve got it all figured out.

But teams are dynamic, and may be made up of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. Disagreements happen. And when what you believe to be best for your team may clash with what someone else believes to be best, other processes can make their way into the procedure you’ve set forth as the standard.

When this happens, it doesn’t take long for others to catch on. Pretty soon everyone is doing their own thing — the thing that they believe is best.

This struggle with consistency is entirely too common. We are creatures of habit, and once we’ve fallen into our own rhythm, it can feel nearly impossible to change our ways. Unless the new protocol is obviously simpler and more straightforward, it can feel like you’re just trading one tedious process for another tedious process.

We wanted SafetyCommitteeApp to break that vicious cycle. We imagined a clean, user-friendly interface that made collecting data from incidents and near misses more painless than ever, so you and your team can stay consistent in your reporting.

But it’s not just the reporting we wanted to improve upon — we aimed to end the days of reports being filled out only to never be seen again, lost to the abyss of your filing cabinet or desktop computer. We designed SafetyCommitteeApp so that your data is always at your fingertips — everything is stored in the cloud, so you can access it from your desktop, your tablet, or even your cell phone. Wherever you are, SafetyCommitteeApp is there, too, granting greater accessibility and optimizing your organization.

The way we see it, when you have your team’s data available to you at all times, it’s easier to recognize trends and implement new operating procedures to get you back on track. Consistent processes make it easier to comply with OSHA regulations, protect yourself from violations, and mitigate future occurrences by ensuring that everyone is operating the right way, every time.

And for those times when something does go amiss and you need to discuss it with your team, SafetyCommitteeApp makes it simpler than ever to record and store your meeting roll calls, minutes, and agendas. So when you look back months from now, you’ll be able to see exactly what you discussed, and exactly who was there to hear it.

Organization and consistency are key to running a safe, productive workplace where everyone can thrive. We’re only human, and we’re never going to know what we don’t know. But here at SafetyCommitteeApp, we believe we’re getting closer every day. Let us help you do the same.
