What’s new in the week of 12/28/20–1/03/21.

Well, it looks like all of us are about to make it through what has surely been one of the craziest years in our lifetime. Congratulations to everyone for making it this far — I have a sneaking suspicion that this next decade will be nothing short of monumental for decentralized finance. It’s a great time to get involved!

Speaking of getting more involved, if you’re more inclined to watch our news recap instead of read it, we’ll now be offering a video segment as well coming this week.

Epoch 3 Concludes

It’s over! We’ve updated the front-end and added a more descriptive categorization for the three types of pools. Epoch 4 introduces the Portion liquidity pool and under the tranche adapted pools, we’ve added the DAI/Rari pool, and updated the name of the original DAI pool to indicate that it’s supplying DAI to Compound.

Our new layout

As of this writing, the GEEQ rewards have been airdropped and our users should expect to receive the BTSE rewards in the near future.

New Features Coming Soon

Since our product launched last month, we’ve been constantly working around the clock to make improvements to Saffron based on your feedback. One of the number one issues that the community has brought to our attention is that after every epoch you have to redeem and restake to participate in the next epoch— which can mean that gas fees can really start adding up. You’ll be pleased to hear that we’re working on adding a rollover feature which will allow users to keep their staked assets in multiple epochs. The timeline for this is roughly 4–6 weeks, dependent on developer availability during the rest of holidays as well as auditor time commitment.

Another question that we see being frequently raised (see how we came to the conclusion to start doing a weekly AMA?) is how users can remove liquidity utilizing Uniswap. It can be a little tricky at first, but here is a great, simple tutorial on how to remove liquidity:

Introducing the Bi-Weekly AMA

We’ll be adjusting this based on the feedback that we get from you guys — we’ll open up the #ama-questions channel for anyone to submit their question to the team. Saffron is a new project that’s attracting a lot of attention — and most of these questions can be answered by reading the initial whitepaper — but we figured that this was a great way to connect with our community. These can range from anything from future plans, questions about upcoming epochs, feature requests, why specific partnerships were selected, etc. The main inspiration behind this was that we saw a lot of similar questions being asked and we thought it would be great to create a database that would compile them all together. We’ll select some of the questions and answer them on camera in a 5–10 minute video that following weekend. We think this is a great way to help our users better understand our project vision and for us to get a better handle of where our users’ mind-share is at.

Miscellaneous House Cleaning

Here’s the part of my job that I hate doing, but I’ll have to put on my bad guy hat for a minute. As of right now, we are still a small team and cannot have eyes everywhere in a marketplace that never sleeps. The two telegram groups that are endorsed by Saffron are the following: Saffron Finance and Saffron Soldiers (note that these are the ONLY two). Saffron Finance’s purpose is to discuss the project at large, provide feedback, and speculate on the future roadmap. Saffron Soldiers by comparison is… well… for lack of a better word a place to get in touch with your inner moonboy. This channel is where price speculation is allowed. We understand that you guys like to have fun — and wholeheartedly encourage it — but it is not a great look for newcomers to be bombarded with spam and memes when they join the official Saffron Finance telegram group. Please take the memes and price speculation to Saffron Soldiers. We’ve had to issue multiple warnings over the past few weeks and unfortunately it seems that a strict crack down is the only way to get the point across.

Bringing up a similar point, we are aware that we’ve attracted attention globally and are thrilled that so many people around the world are taking an interest in Saffron — but it’s also a double-edged sword. It benefits no one to have five different conversations in five different languages happening simultaneously in a Telegram. We are trying to mitigate and be as accommodating as possible; in the Discord we’ve introduced language specific (Spanish, Chinese, Polish, etc) channels for users to congregate in while still being part of the Saffron umbrella. If you’d like your preferred language added, please message one of us on Discord. In addition, users have created their own Telegrams for their own countries — but please keep in mind that these Telegrams are not endorsed by us, they are fan run communities. As of right now, until we expand further the Saffron Finance and Saffron Soldiers telegrams are English speaking channels only. This is going to start being heavily enforced in the coming days, so please be mindful of that.

On a lighter note we’ve moved some of the outdated channels into the new Archive section of the Discord, where you can read all past Saffron Weeklys, look at old Psykeeper AMAs, and more. This category is where old outdated channels go when there’s no longer an active need to keep them towards the top.

Lastly, we will appearing on an upcoming episode of the Blockcrunch with Jason Choi.

Don’t forget to submit your questions for the AMA this weekend! The channel is open now!
